Japan Localization

Translation gets you read. Localization gets you chosen.

We turn your website into one Japanese customers trust and act on — rewritten by native Japanese writers, restructured for local expectations, and set up to be found in Japanese search and AI.

Translated vs. localized

What changes when a site is made for Japan.

Swapping the words leaves out what Japanese buyers want to check before they contact you. Here's what we look at.

✕Translated only

  • ToneLiteral phrasing and claims that feel too blunt in Japanese.
  • InformationSame as the English site — no detailed specs or conditions.
  • TrustLittle that tells buyers who the company really is.
  • FormsGiven name first, Western address format.
  • SearchTranslated words used as keywords.

✓Localized for Japan

  • TonePoliteness set for your industry and buyer; natural Japanese throughout.
  • InformationSpecs, conditions, onboarding steps and FAQs buyers use to decide.
  • TrustRepresentative, address, founding year, clients and certifications, up front.
  • FormsFamily name first, furigana, postal-code lookup, phone field.
  • SearchKeywords researched in Japanese, built into the structure.

What we localize

Everything a Japanese customer will see.

Not just the site — the ads and search results that lead to it, and the materials your sales team hands over after.

Core

Japanese website & landing pages

Restructure, Japanese copy, design adjustments, build and hreflang. We can localize the whole site or just the pages that matter most.

Japanese UX & forms

Information order, forms and contact options that feel native.

Japanese SEO & AI

Found in Japanese search, quoted in AI answers.

Google & Yahoo! JAPAN Ads

Both search ad platforms Japan uses, run by the team that built the site.

Brochures & sales decks

The materials your team hands over, in the same voice as the site.

Photo & video in Japan

Shot locally, for Japanese customers.

Social media, PR and more

See Japan Marketing

Our approach

Four steps to a Japanese site that works.

We start by deciding who you're selling to in Japan. Skip that, and even a perfect translation won't land.

  1. Market & keyword research

Japanese competitors, search terms and what buyers compare.

  2. Message adaptation

Decide what Japanese buyers need to hear; rebuild structure and copy.

  3. Build the Japanese site

Design tweaks, development, forms, tracking and hreflang.

  4. Launch & grow

Improve with real search, ad and inquiry data.

Choose your level

Start small, or launch all at once.

Pick the scope that fits your budget and timing. You can move up a level at any point.

FAQ

Localization questions.

All questions
Is this just translation?
Translation is part of it, but we also add what Japanese buyers look for, reorder pages and change how people contact you. Your English and Japanese sites don't have to share a structure.
Subfolder or a separate .jp domain?
In most cases we recommend a /ja/ subfolder on your current domain — it inherits your search authority and keeps things in one place. If you have a Japanese entity or a separate brand, a .jp domain can make sense. Either way, we set up hreflang.
We have no Japanese team. Who answers inquiries?
We plan that with you before launch — for example, forms that deliver answers you can read in English, and FAQs that answer common questions before they're asked.
Can you work with our current CMS?
WordPress, yes. For Shopify, Webflow, HubSpot and others, we'll check the setup and propose an approach.
Can you help after launch?
Yes — Japanese SEO, Google and Yahoo! JAPAN Ads, social, and improvements based on your inquiry data.
